The Great Gatsby quote questions what does he mean?

Quote 1 "[ There was] a valley of ashes-a fanstastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens.

Quote 2 "He thinks she goes to see her sisters in New York. He's so dumb he doesn't know he's alive."

Qoute 3 " Yet high over the city our line of yellow windows must have contributed ther share of human secrecy to the casual watcher in the darkening streets... I saw him too looking up and wondering. I was within and without.

Quote 4 I believe that on the first nigh I went to Gatsby house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited-they went there.

Quote 5 "[Gatsby's smile had] a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life....It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourselft."

Quote 6 it takes tow to make an accident.

thank you.

The Great Gatsby quote questions what does he mean?
1) This is simply a description of a valley where many ash trees grow; if they grow "like wheat," it implies an area that is dense with such trees, the way wheat is dense in a field.

2) "He" believes something that isn't true; the speaker is saying that he's incredibly stupid.

3) This quote is helping to set a mood, describing the period of time where lights are beginning to be visible in buildings.

4) This quote sets a tone as well; it tells you what Gatsby's home is like - that there is always a party, and that people simply drop by, as though it were an attraction rather than a private home.

5) This quote tells you about Gatsby himself; it says that he's a person who doesn't pry - who understands you "just as far as you want to be understood" and no further; he reflects the person he's with to a degree.

6) It should be "It takes two to make an accident," meaning accidents (and other problems) require two participants, or they wouldn't happen at all.
